Beauty trends that blew up at New York fashion Shows this week!
Despite the record breaking cold snap that gripped New York this weekend, a full slate of fashion week events managed to lure the city’s bright young things onto the frigid streets to take in the fall 2016 collections. Fortunately there was a quick pick-me up whoever you went in the form of the deeply charming hair and make-up, from the return of the soft, ladylike curl at ‘Altvzarra’ to the subversive slicked hair and obsidian lip at Rhianna’s Puma debut. Model Yana Bovenistiers mullet- An unlikely runway win came by way, whose surprisingly pretty mullet on the runway had us rethinking the 80’s and the hidden benefits of a party in the back mentality.
Glitter Contour- for the opening ceremony’s futuristic blade runner, inspired collection, make-up artist Yadim drew stripes of holographic stage slitter along the curve of the brow or streaked it along cheekbones in a sci-fi contour that recalled Ziggy stardust.
Hot Fuzz Curls- Soft brushed out waves on models Alana Arrington, Pooja Mor and Frederikka Sofie at Altvzarra provided a natural spin on the voluminous hairstyle that felt starkly romantic. Blocked out brows- backstage make-up artist Inge Grognard blended black acrylic paint with Mac’s mixing medium to draw a thick, graphic painterly line across each models brows at hood by air.
Double Plaits- A tight pair of twin plaits became the ultimate off duty hair statement for Kim Kardashian-West and Harper Beckham, both spotted in ‘The Look’ this weekend and already the ‘The Style’ has a secret style stamp of approval from models who wore their plaited runway looks straight off the runway.
Thigh Tattoos- If you’re going to get a tattoo then a few inches north of your knee is the place to do it. That seemed to be the message at hood by air and on cool- girl models like Hanne Gaby Oidele at Alexandra Wang- Courtesy of her declarative garter stockings. The new front row bow- spotted at Prasal Gvrung with sleek black ribbon meets headband accenting her up do, Diane Kruger oozed class that reverberated with Emily Ratajkowski’s own polished front row make over at Altvzarra.
